About the prize
Crankbrothers spent several years developing their debut footwear range – and it shows, with our testers awarding the top-end Mallet BOA model a four-and-a-half-star rating.
There are three shoes in the range, each with a choice of closures. All have been designed for the best possible interface with the pedal – which means a super-grippy, slow-rebound sole on the Stamp flat-pedal shoes, and easy cleat fitting and adjustment (no spacer guesswork or tread trimming required!) on the Mallet and Mallet E clipless options.
The tough but malleable upper is shared across the range and has perforated sections for breathability, reinforcement over the toes, hidden lace eyelets and silicone gripper at the heel for a more secure fit.
