Brakes are one of the most important parts of your bike. So, surely it makes sense to have the best ones possible? But does more money mean better performance? To find out, in this week's MBUK video, we test some bargain-basement £30/$40 Tanke anchors and a set of super-pricey £1,000/$1,300 Trickstuff stoppers back to back.
Along with the Piccola C22 brakes, straight from Trickstuff's German factory (€1,199 + tax), and the Tanke MT200 stoppers, bought from AliExpress (£22.73/$33.39 + tax, including rotors), Tom Law also puts Shimano's MT200s (£69.98/$67.98) and Hayes' Dominion A2s (£459.98/$499.98) to the test on the trails.
All in a bid to see what the differences are between cheap anchors and expensive ones – and whether braking the bank leads to better braking performance.
